Teen Angels Fly High

July 24-26, 2009 were the dates for another fine Camp Teen Angel session. We had 19 great kids, 5 AOMS counselors, 3 chaperones, and a wonderful support staff from Camp Manito-Wish led by Peter and Sarah. Friday, campers arrived and we got settled in our cabin, had a brief orientation, played a lot of games and ate a great meal. After supper, Pastor Bill Trosien joined us for a Sharing Time, where we got to know each other better and share some of our cancer stories. After that, we took part in some exhilarating awareness activities and back to the cabin for socializing and sleep.
Saturday morning we were up bright and early for breakfast and a bus ride to Eagle River for a Pirate Adventure. Though the weather was a little cool and moist, we had a fun time on the pirate ship and some of the hardier mates even walked the plank!! The water was warm and our pirates didn't seem to mind.
Back at camp, we spent the now sunny afternoon on the Ropes High Challenge course. Our campers were up to the challenge and everyone participated and many succeeded in surpassing their goals. Then it was back to the cabin for supper where everyone exciting described their amazing feats in the air and congratulated one another on their bravery and skills.
After supper, there was the Amazing Race competition, a camp fire and a not so "silent" walk through the grounds with the glow of our neon necklaces showing the way. Back at the cabin, we made banana splits and enjoyed comaraderie with our new-found friends.
Sunday morning, we packed up had breakfast and got on the bus for the ride home with our new bffs.
