Uplifting Angels

Angels Visit Cancer Treatment Centers
Angel On My Shoulder created and implemented its very first program, Uplifting Angels, in 1995.
Twice a year in the fall and spring of the year special right from the heart deliveries are planned, prepared and coordinated by Mary Long, our Uplifting Angels Director. These caring packages are delivered to over 65 hospitals and cancer units throughout the state. On each visit, approximately 4,500 cancer patients (young and old alike) receive these thinking of you gifts that are designed to brighten their day and let them know they are thought of and cared about.
A team of caring Uplifting Angels offers their time and talents to deliver these gifts that carry messages of hope and support to those living with cancer.
The following are excerpts from some of the many heartwarming messages we receive from recipients of our thinking of you gifts. It touches and warms our hearts to know that we are able to bring a ray of sunshine and lift spirits in such a profound way.
- Dear Lolly, I want to thank you and your group for the beautiful work you do and the sunshine you bring to so many cancer patients. I have received “angels” on my shoulder from your group. I just wanted to thank you. You people are “our” angels. God bless all involved. Thank you again, Doris
- Dear Angels, I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful angel goodie bag I received at my chemo treatment. It made my day!!!! Thank you again for those of us that are in the battle of our lives. We appreciate the thoughtfulness. Sincerely, Mary
- Hi Angels, I just went for a radiation treatment and received your gift. It made me feel so good. Thank you again. Sincerely, Kay
- Dear Lolly, Thank you for taking time to meet me personally. I really appreciated being able to thank you in person and learning more about Angel On My Shoulder. I have told several friends already about what you are doing through your founda-tion. It is definitely a good example of something very positive coming out of the negative of your husband’s early passing from cancer. I think of you every time I see the “angel” that I received. Blessings, MaryAnn
- Dear Mary and Angel On My Shoulder Team, Thanks for bringing a smile, joy and kindness to our cancer patients receiving chemo and radiation. People are always appreciative of the gifts and often surprised that a kind gesture is given so freely. I think that it adds to their hope. Many thanks, Gail Jacobson, Social Worker
- Hi Lolly, Just sending a little note to say “hello”. I want you to know how honored I feel to be part of such a wonderful, giving group of people. Each time I deliver the gift packages to our area hospitals I am reminded of how many lives we touch. I marvel at the creativity of the gifts and the number of volunteers involved. You and the entire organization have done so much. I want you to know that when I deliver these gifts I’m told multiple times “THANK YOU SO MUCH” – so I wanted you to know that too. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Caren Krueger (Uplifting Angel) Green Bay Area Contact Person
- Dear Lolly and Angel On My Shoulder Angels, We again want to express our gratitude for your continued support of our oncology patients. It is wonderful to give them those little purple bags so they feel someone that doesn’t even know them – cares!! Thanks for all you do, Pattie Heisel, Oncology Coordinator, Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls
- Dear Lolly, Thank you is such a small word compared to your large acts of kindness for our patients. Once again, the little chubby cheeked angels brought smiles to the faces of everyone as they were taken from their purple bags. Thank you and God bless you! Connie Worzala, RN, Cancer Care Coordinator, St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay
