Summer Camp Angel

Summer Camp Angel is a cost-free weekend camp for kids 7-12 who are affected by the cancer of a close family member (sibling, parent or grandparent), or who have experienced the loss of a close family member due to cancer. We hope to provide these kids a break from cancer and show them the time of their lives!  At Camp Angel they meet others facing similar situations and share fun, positive experiences to uplift and strengthen them.

Camp is held at a beautiful Northwoods campsite in Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Cost-free transportation is provided to and from camp via coach buses (Lamer’s Bus Line) that begins in West Allis, WI with designated stops in Oshkosh, Green Bay and Wausau. Chaperones are on board to ensure that campers are well-supervised and safe at all times.

When the bus arrives at the campsite, our campers are enthusiastically welcomed by their counselors and other volunteer Angel staff. Once the group is settled, there are introductions, an orientation and some fun icebreakers. Let the new friendships begin!

Later, the kids discover their unique and creative weekend accommodations which feature the Ark, Fort, Tower and Tree Houses.

Following Friday night dinner, we welcome our very special annual visitors – the Northern Lights Harley Riders on their awesome motorcycles. The campers can hop on a Harley for photo opportunities and experience these amazing cycles up close and personal. Then, it’s off to check out a unique and interesting presentation, you never know who will stop by to entertain us!

Saturday, water rules! Kids can enjoy activities which include swimming, water craft rides (a very favorite), canoeing, kayaking and much much more. Kids who prefer to stay dry can express their artistic side with arts and crafts galore. A very special attraction for our summer campers is an intriguing pirate ship adventure down the beautiful Chain O’ Lakes on the Strauss Family’s famous pirate ship. Ahoy Mateys!

On Saturday night the kids can dance to the tunes of our very own Angel DJ, Dan Scafaro, and enjoy snacks and refreshments. After leaving it all on the dance floor, campers and counselors return to their campsites for campfires, s’mores, games and eventually sleep.

Sunday morning means it’s time to pack-up, fill up on a great breakfast, exchange goodbyes (for now) and board the bus for the trip home with lots of new friends met and happy memories made.
