Camp Teen Angel is a cost-free weekend camp for teens 13-15 who are affected by the cancer of a close family member (sibling, parent or grandparent), or who have experienced the loss of a close family member due to cancer. It’s tough to be a teen under the best of circumstances, so our aim is to give teens a break from the burden of cancer. The weekend, held at Camp Manito-wish in Boulder Junction, WI, is filled to the brim with activities for our campers.
Here are some of the highlights:
Campers arrive late afternoon on Friday, are greeted by our staff and counselors, and get a chance to settle in to their cabin. There is a brief orientation and some ice-breaker activities before supper.
On Saturday, we will take a short bus trip to a riding stable for some horseback riding, then back to camp for lunch and to be challenged by the High-ropes Course, where we will fly through the treetops, and test our courage. We also hold a Sharing Session for campers to talk about their cancer experience and share advice with each other.
